I'm coming down with a cold. Not surprising considering that I am surrounded by people with colds at work, class, home...

What it does mean is that I tend to go through some interesting nasal ups-and-downs. Sometimes I'll be congested, other times overly sensitive to smells.

This morning, my walk to campus was blessed with exhaust fumes, petrol fumes and strong perfume. I was never so grateful for my habit of skipping breakfast because it would have made a reappearance otherwise.

The rest of the day wasn't so bad. I couldn't see very well and had hot and cold spells but otherwise no nasal hiccups.

Figures that I would have the good fortune to walk home with a smoker upwind of me. It took me one and a half blocks to catch up to and overtake the girl in front of me. And I worked hard to keep my lead. Then she caught up to me at the red light. Curse diffusion! I smelt it strongly. Needless to say, when that light turned green, my legs went pump, pump, pump. Thank goodness she turned right after the first block into Ingleside.

The joy of smells.
